Ukrainian soul of ecotourism
Curiously, there is still no clear definition of what ecological tourism is. Taking the opportunity, some tourism organizations speculate in such a trendy direction, calling ecotours that they are not and fundamentally contradicts the basic concept of eco-culture. Therefore, to begin with, let’s dot the “i” – go over the types and principles of green travel:
Traveling without harming the environment:
1. On eco-transport (bicycle, electric car, horse):
produce a minimum of garbage, sort and throw it into the advising tanks;
rational use of natural resources;
Do not disturb, destroy or pollute natural systems.
2. Tourism in ecologically clean places:
forest, mountain, river and other trips;
excursions in natural parks, reserves, reserves;
just relaxing in the wild.
3. Rest in a rural estate, ethnic house or in an eco-settlement:
help with the housework, learn crafts, look after animals or plants, collect crops;
live in an ecologically clean area, eat natural products, walk in nature;
You will learn the life, traditions, culture, life features of those who, as they say, “eats from the earth.”
4. Economic contribution to the development of the visited region and the promotion of nature conservation.
Actually, these are the basic definitions of ecotourism. Of course, your eco-friendly vacation does not have to include all the items at once. Which of them is a plus and what is a minus is a subjective question. After all, do not feed one with bread, but give free rein to ride a bicycle in the mountains, forests or spend days picking mushrooms and berries, but for the other you can’t imagine the worst punishment. So, think for yourself, decide for yourself … for now we will tell you what opportunities green tourism in Ukraine offers.
Our carpet is a flower meadow, the walls are giant pines …
The paragraph on rest without harming the environment could be continued with a dozen subparagraphs, since it professes the concept of environmental awareness and respect for nature – the foundation of ecotourism. We are full of hope that you, dear reader, would be able to continue the list without prompts, especially since these principles are universal on the entire planet. Therefore, we proceed immediately to the second point.
To live without the benefits of civilization in the midst of rich nature, it is not necessary to be an avid tourist or a harsh survivalist. Fortunately, in Ukraine it is still possible to find secluded places for passive and active ecotourism near civilization, to take root for several days, and no one will drive away, and will not be fined. Get fire, swim in the river, fish, build a treehouse, meditate, contemplating the stars – please! Choose which glade looks at you and settle in … Alas, in Europe, alas, it won’t work: you can only live in a savage in campsites, and it’s not allowed to make a fire everywhere, and it’s better not to show a fishing rod.
The geography of “wild” ecotourism in Ukraine:
Kinburn Spit, Aktovsky and Arbuzinsky Canyons. Nikolaevkskaya area. The canyons themselves are beautiful and impressive, and even here you can drill even for permanent residence without worrying that your peace will be disturbed. A braid is worth exploring for those who love the sea.
Aleshkovsky sands, the island Dzharylgach and Biryuchy. Kherson region. Suitable for those who love a lot of sun and sand.
The Carpathians are a solid shelter for those wishing to distance themselves from civilization. No wonder Oleksa Dovbush fled here to hide. By the way, you will find very attractive places to live in the wilderness in the vicinity of the famous Dovbush rock (in winter, when there are few excursions, you can even live in this cave – extreme ecotourism). Located near the Nemchich pass, on the border of the Kosovo region of Ivano-Frankivsk and Putilsky district of Chernivtsi region.
As part of ecotourism, the national protected lands of Ukraine are opening. You can even settle next to the reserve and go to its territory every day to enjoy the pristine nature. If you like it, take a tent, a backpack, and go to Shatsky National Nature Park, Askania-Nova, Kanevsky, Stepnoy, Dneprovsk-Orelsky, Polessky or Carpathian Nature Reserve. This is where you will see real eco-life.
We live in a hut, we milk cows, eat well, ride horses
The third item from the list above is a type of ecotourism, which is called rural tourism, agro-tourism or ethnic. It is easy to catch the essence of it for those who were visiting the village or who like to rummage around in the country …
Variant “hard”. You live in a house, lead a rural lifestyle. Water the beds, collect bulk apples in the garden, sharpen the scythe, mow the hay, feed the chickens, graze the sheep, milk the cows … in general, help with the housework as if it is yours. The hosts settle in a cozy house, feed them fragrant homemade bread, fresh milk, honey from an apiary and fresh vegetables without GMOs. They will ride horses, introduce local rituals, teach them handicrafts and pour them on top of life hacks.
