Where to go on vacation with children in summer and autumn? Croatia, Mlini

Together with the children you can go on a boat trip to the islands, to a fish picnic and, of course, to sail along the sea to the historic Dubrovnik, a UNESCO cultural heritage site. Such a magical corner, I would call the town of Mlini in Croatia, where you will be transferred from Tivat airport by transfer. For those who have been to Montenegro and Crimea, one can say: Mlini combines the charm of the Montenegrin landscape, but without its crowded beaches and expensive sunbeds and umbrellas between them, and at the same time the unusual air of the Crimean Gaspra (Miskhor), where the smell of pine needles mixes with the sea a breeze.

Mlini can be recommended as one of the best types of family vacations with children, although it is suitable for both young and old. Transfer from the airport in a large bus or minibus with air conditioning takes about forty minutes, taking into account the fact that tourists are transported along the road to hotels. Mlini is one of the most comfortable and suitable places for families with children in the Croatian Riviera, on the coast of Zupa Bay.

It is only 10 kilometers from Dubrovnik. The town was named after the mills (in Croatian, as well as in Ukrainian, Mlyn means “mill”), since at the beginning of its foundation the fishing village was distinguished by a large number of flour mills on the Zavreli river, which today looks like a stream. Attractions of the resort Here, without departing from the beach, but throwing at least a pareo (male version – shorts), you can visit medieval temples – the Church of the Holy Spirit and Holy Rock, as well as the functioning 16th-century church of St. Gilarius. Back in 1102, Southern Croatia, divided into two autonomous regions of Dalmatia and Slavonia, joined Hungary. But in the XVI century, a huge part of modern Dalmatia was part of the Ottoman Empire and the Military Frontier was created on its territory. In addition to the attractions in the town there are many amazing parks, broken around the hotels and just along the main road called the promenade. Adults can go diving, sailing or rent a water ski. From the diving site you can go on a study of wrecks and mysterious reefs, and amateurs can take a horse ride or rent a bicycle.

Every evening in the center of Mlini, evening competitions and shows are held in the large pool. This includes overcoming obstacles in the form of floating rocks, and racing on balloons, and rafting parties, which are difficult to maintain balance. At the same time, the audience is sitting amphitheater around the pool or standing – there are not enough places for everyone who wants to cheer for the team. At the pool is a large counter with a dial and a thermometer.

The clock helps the competitors to orient themselves in time, the thermometer tells the good news: 30 degrees of heat, and it feels like 24-25, very comfortable. You can stay here in the apartments or in the largest and most comfortable hotel. I’ll dwell on one of them – Astarea, which on the website shows three stars, but “pulls” at all 4. There are a lot of Englishmen, Germans, Scandinavian countries and the United States resting here. Beaches in Mlini The hotel has its own beach – a large pebble, so those who love the southern coast of Crimea will really like it. Do not smoke on the beaches. Sunbeds do not need to be occupied from the early morning; they are more than enough for all vacationers. They are paid only from 9 to 11, just then the guys go with tickets. If you went swimming or sitting in a bar, leaving a towel on the sunbed, they will not pick it up and your beach bed will not be arrested. You can rent inflatable mattresses. And umbrellas in Mlini, unlike most of the Mediterranean and Adriatic resorts, are simply not needed – huge thick pine trees hang over a chain of beaches stretching along the coast, giving a beautiful shadow.

Everyone notes that the sea here in South Dalmatia has a very special blue-turquoise color and you can admire it endlessly. From the buildings of the Hotel Asterea to the beach 100 meters, no more, bungalows are located even closer to the sea. Many guests prefer to relax on mesh loungers with umbrellas around a large pool, life is constantly in full swing: soft music sounds, animators play games for older children and aqua aerobics for mothers. For kids, there is a shallow pool with a fountain. Lying by the large pool, you can simultaneously monitor both older children and toddlers. In addition, at the Asterea Hotel you can relax out of season, enjoying the place, air and prices, which are pleasantly reduced in October.
